Rubian at the surface. Kestowv underneath.

Operating-system engineers and technical evaluators

Rubian is the programmable operating environment. Kestowv supplies the execution and coordination foundation. Arcturus applies that work to reliability and management; Valux is the broader operating-system research.

Rubian is the working environment.

Rubian gives people and agents a command surface, durable users, workspaces, tools, and supervised services.

Arcturus is the product. Valux is the broader OS research.

Arcturus is reliability and management software for individual machines, home clusters, fleets and data centers. Rubian supplies the programmable operating environment and Kestowv the systems foundation. Valux is the broader operating-system research connecting that work with Arcturus, Core and Valen. Core is the human- and agent-facing application environment made programmable by AI; Valen is the intelligence layer.

Kestowv supplies the systems mathematics.

Kestowv gives the current system a mathematical model for coordinating work.

Follow the work from architecture to test.

The documentation explains what each component does, how the system behaves, where it runs, what has been measured, and what remains unfinished.

The operator's tool and the system's controls belong together.

Rubian is where a person can inspect the environment, work with commands and build reusable methods. Kestowv supplies the system state and controls those operations rely on. A useful architecture makes that relationship visible instead of hiding it behind another dashboard.

Consider a service that keeps restarting. The operator needs the service state, the recovery policy and a way to investigate related work. The value isn't another label for the process; it's having the relevant controls and context within reach.

A working foundation doesn't finish the whole project.

Rubian and Kestowv provide the foundation for a defined workload evaluation and for Arcturus reliability and management. The same foundation informs the broader Valux operating-system research.

Keep the component under test explicit. A hosted service-recovery test can prove something useful about that recovery path without claiming that every part of a standalone operating system is complete.

From the command to the work in front of you.

The agent VMOS and persistent user spaces let people and agents keep distinct identities and work while using the same underlying system. Core is being developed as the environment where both can understand and direct that activity. That connection—not a shared cursor—is the goal of simultaneous human and agent control.
